Is that a stye in your eye?

IMG_1032 Omg - those annoying styes in your eye! I used to get them all the time as a kid. When Bodi got one just the other week, I wanted to spare him the pain of a huge pimple on his eyelid. So I pulled out my natural medicines toolkit, and it literally was gone in a matter of hours! What did I do?
  1. Warm compresses with chamomile tea with calendula oil. You can brew a cup of full-strength chamomile tea and put in 1 teaspoon of calendula oil. Chamomile and calendula both have healing, anti-inflammatory, and anti-infective properties. You can use this same cup all day - just be sure to use a clean washcloth to dip in for each compress.
  2. Homeopathic Pulsatilla and Hepar sulphuris to help dry up the pus. These are 2 classic homeopathic stye medicines. For more information on how to use homeopathic medicines, please refer to my blogposts What is Homeopathy - Part 1 and What is Homeopathy - Part 2. In general, for styes, you would want to give 3 pellets of each of these medicines 3-4x/day.
  3. And the final clincher - homeopathic Myristica sebifera. Not very well known, but it will open up whatever boil or abscess needs to be drained. This is a great medicine for pimples that you just need to open up right now, or boils that are painful and would find so much relief if they could just pop!
I had given Bodi 2 doses of Pulsatilla and Hepar sulphuris, but after doing just one dose of Myristica sebifera, Bodi's stye popped open and totally drained (eeeuw - right?) But it was done and over! I'm telling you - Bodi's stye was 3 times what it was in this picture. This photo was taken shortly after it burst open. And by that evening, you would never have known anything had been up with his eye! So cool!
